Best Sod Webworm Treatment
Sod webworms are the infant caterpillars of a type of Crambus moth. Usually, the larvae are laid in the thatch layer of grass in late summer, stay dormant over winter, then morph into the worm state in late springtime. Throughout the summer, they will mature into moths and lay more eggs, which can continue to morph and grow, causing multiple generations in one season.
The sod webworms will eat individual grass blades overnight at the soil surface, causing minor damage at a time, which can build into large patches of what looks like scalped grass. This can become permanent damage depending on the rate of infestation spread and summer heat and drought.
Armyworm Control
The name may fool you, but armyworms are not worms at all; they are moth caterpillars and are the larvae of a species belonging to the Noctuidae family.
Named for their behavior, armyworms march in large numbers like an army, destroying crops and grasses in their path. They aren’t picky and will devour just about any vegetation. Most damaging in their larval stage, armyworms are common lawn and agricultural pests that feed on a wide range of plants, including your beautiful lawn!

If you come across a mystery worm or caterpillar, look for vertical lines that run down their backs – that is the best way to identify it as an armyworm.
Grubs In Lawn
The white grubs found in our local soils are the immature stages of May or June beetles, commonly called “June bugs.” These grubs are especially common during the hot and humid months. They live in the soil and feed on the roots of grass, causing damage to lawns and gardens.
Lawn Grubs are typically creamy white in color with a C-shaped body and can grow up to 1-2 inches in length. Lawn grubs can be a major pest for homeowners, as they can quickly infest large areas and cause significant damage to turf and plants.
Signs of a grub infestation include brown patches of grass that can be easily pulled up and an increase in the presence of birds or other animals digging up the lawn to feed on the grubs.

- The Akokisa and Bidai peoples used to inhabit the area that is now The Woodlands and relied on the freshwater of Spring Creek. In 1984, while constructing the Indian Springs neighborhood near the creek, artifacts belonging to the Bidai were found.
- As of 2021, The Howard Hughes Corporation estimated that The Woodlands had a population of 119,000, an increase from the 114,436 people living there reported in the 2020 U.S. Census.

Despite the fact that the area has grown to have a much larger, more walkable downtown area, since its design over 40 years ago, the crime rate has remained low. Traffic problems have been minimal due to the Hardy Toll Road and several of The Woodlands’ own roads, such as Lake Woodlands, Research Forest, and Gosling, which are shaded by a forest canopy instead of businesses.
