Signs of a well-functioning system include even water distribution, no dry spots, and no visible leaks. Regular checks and professional inspections can help maintain efficiency.
Yes, modern irrigation systems are designed to use water efficiently, reducing waste and ensuring plants receive the right amount of water.
A smart irrigation system uses technology like weather sensors and soil moisture sensors to adjust watering schedules automatically, optimizing water usage.
Drip line irrigation is a highly efficient watering system that delivers water directly to the root zone of plants through a network of tubes and emitters. Instead of spraying water into the air like traditional sprinklers, drip lines slowly release water along the ground, ensuring plants get the moisture they need—right where they need it most.
This system uses flexible tubing with built-in emitters spaced evenly along the line. The emitters “drip” water at a controlled rate, reducing waste from runoff and evaporation. It’s especially effective for flower beds, shrubs, and areas with uneven ground.
Common reasons include issues with the controller, electrical problems, or damaged valves. Checking these components can help identify the problem.
Dry spots could be due to clogged nozzles, improper sprinkler head alignment, or insufficient water pressure. Inspecting and adjusting these parts can help.
Pooling water can indicate overwatering, leaks in the system, or poor drainage. Identifying and fixing the source of the problem is crucial.
Yes, we can help with backflow preventer repair and replacements. We typically like to do a service call first to diagnose the issue fully. Sometimes, full replacements of the backflow preventer valve is not necessary.
An irrigation backflow preventer—also called a backflow preventer valve or backflow preventer device—is a safety component that keeps contaminated water from flowing backward into your home’s clean water supply. In an irrigation system, it stops fertilizers, lawn chemicals, or standing water from being siphoned back through sprinkler lines and into your drinking water. This device is required by most cities to protect public water systems and ensure your property’s irrigation stays safe and compliant.
Yes, it’s important to winterize your backflow preventer, and therefore winterize your sprinkler system, to prevent the components from freezing or cracking. Since we have much milder winters than Northern climates, a full blow-out of the pipes underground is unnecessary.
Yes, irrigation systems can be customized with different zones to cater to the specific watering needs of different plants and areas in your landscape.
Additional features include rain sensors, soil moisture sensors, smart controllers, and high efficiency sprinkler heads that can enhance efficiency and ease of use.
An irrigation system ensures efficient water use, provides consistent watering, saves time, and can enhance plant growth and health.

Great question! Many customers wonder how to winterize their irrigation system on their own.
- First, remove any and all old foam and tape on the piping surrounding the backflow valve. Confirm that all valves are functioning by turning them.
- Turn off/close supply side valve.
- Drain supply side line.
- Drain opposite line that feeds your irrigation system to first valve.
- Drain the back flow preventer.
- If not already there, install a supply shut off valve. This allows you to shut off the irrigation system if any repairs are needed without having to shut the water off in your home.
- To decrease the chances of a busted backflow or busted pipes over the winter, we also recommended installing two different valves on both sides of the backflow to ensure all water is drained out.
- Install pipe insulation on both lines.
- Wrap insulation with pvc, uv protected covering.
- Install insulated, uv protected, fire resistant bag over back flow preventer.
Knowing when to winterize your sprinkler system is crucial! Doing so too early could cause your lawn to miss out on needed watering, and doing it too late could result in a cracked backflow preventer. We typically recommend winterizing in November of each year.
